The guitar solo is just sick ...jeez
Rip dean btowm
Shmokin'! :~)))
RIP Dean Brown...
Always have been amazed at Billy's ability to ride w/ either hand...,what dexterity!!
It's a shame you never see him use the cymbal rack a lot but still a great legend.
still love your work!!
RIP Dean
This tune actually is "On a Magic Carpet Ride" from the same album. No one can possibly play like this while puffin' stuff. 😊
This IS improvised music U can even easily dance to there's NOTHING better!
Deano!
👍🏾👍🏾
Che spettacolo!!!! Giganti infiniti, oggi siamo lontani anni luce...siamo sotto zero...
The best version of this song!
1978? Sure?
Jeez, I love Zappa (who learned me music), Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin etc. but the ever best is this one🙂. Thanks Billy, Jan, and Jeff (sorry for you being gone - I meet you in the other world)
Billy Cobham was and is the greatest drummer to ever live on this planet earth. I do really wished that we could have meant. My name is Steve Wood. I was an up coming expired by drummers like you. Thank,You, for your great playing and performing. I wish that i could have been exactly like you. Mr, Billy Cobham.😊
Gil Goldstein push the band,Cobham and Landers accelerate to follow him !! Great !
Excellent solo by John Abercrombie, but I still prefer the slower tempo of the original album version.
Кобом гениален. И этим все сказано. Таких музыкантов как он можно назвать "МИДАС" - любая музыка у них превращается в золото
De la pure folie !
Man. This band cooks.
Amazing!
SOLARRRRR ! SOM PRÓSPERO
A channel with only Billy Cobham: happiness!! 🤩
"TAMA" !!
This was his most killing band
Was this the Glass Menagerie band? I used to have the cassette tape of this concert. I think it was called Live And Smokin.
One of my fave tunes of all time
Randy’s playing is off the chain here. Maybe I’m biased but he’s just driving the whole thing for me. Perfect perfect tone for this music and his style of playing too. So much Growl. Im sure he’s a lifelong fan of tube Amps
Yay, Billham Cobly! Love the music, don't love the camerawork. Somehow the director managed to miss all the 'important' moments! Lots of close-ups of, er, things up-close, but I wanted to see the guys playing. Preferably all of them. At the same time. Sigh. The best thing about listening to records (as opposed to watching videos) is that when you close your eyes, the camerawork's always perfect...😁
Bonham who??
Ahhhh! Those were the best days of my drumming career! Out of North Texas had a 5 piece doing these fusion arrangements. Loved it!!! Bless Billy Cobham!
I have this album, Glass Menagerie thanks for posting
3:35 Nice guitar face :-)
Had this originally on vinyl that I bought around 1984 from a used record store; just finding this live version now- in 2022. Stuff like this is so HOTT, it should be able to blow COVID back to where it originates - i.e. out of humans!
Super Drummer! 💥
Calm down
Oh McGawd! Sublime. It's the difference between playing a song perfectly and playing it as it wished to be played in that space, in that setting, in that time. Utterly sublime.
Tremendo el Gran Maestro Mr Billy Cobham extraordinario !!!!!
Bestial como siempre el gran maestro Cobham!
This is the Smokin’ album on video! Great stuff
I like this combo!this is music!
I just found this in 2022. Like holy shit, that's good. ❤️
Far Out Man
Dean Brown is an absolute fiery monster. He's a huge influence on my own playing.
Super que j'écoute depuis 89
The best of the best
I wonder if the complete concert was ever released on media.
Always good to see new Billy videos. This was for me the beginning of the end, though. Specifically, when they launch into double time. What? Turn such a fat and funky textured groove into freaking vaudeville? I don’t believe that Billy made a credible record after Shabbazz. The slide into Muzak started with a couple tracks on A Funky Side of Sings and continues to this day. Compare this version of Baron to that on Shabbaz. Night and day. And the original? Come on. I blame his sidemen, but he hired them. I’ve heard no one say any of this, and I know I’m gonna piss people off - but my heart remains broken as early Cobham is, for me, the greatest of all time. I would take Spectrum onto any desert island a happy man. But Drum n Voice? Come on.
Watch the Tenth Pin video for an incredible example of what he left behind in the 80’s.
Thanks for mentioning Shabazz. Never heard of it. Listen in. Brillant. After Spectrum I left. Red baron and the Jan Hammer Solo. Hard to top. Then for Jan Hammer Miami Vice. Good for his bank account. Not bad though. For TV. Zeitgeist. Maybe Cobham just likes to play live. Nevermind the musical relevance. You could be a bit more leniant. Cobham is in a way the mathematician of drums. Always precise and mathematicians tend to fade, when getting older.
